Perimenopause & Menopause

Journeying with women from perimenopause to menopause and beyond

What is Perimenopause?

Perimenopause is the phase around menopause where the body starts to observe changes as it makes the natural transition to menopause.

Women start perimenopause at different ages mostly in the 40s while some may observe changes in their mid-30s. Many common perimenopause symptoms are similar to menopause signs.

  • Changes in the menstrual cycles that may lengthen or shorten
  • Hot flashes
  • Mood changes, anxiety, problems sleeping
  • Vaginal dryness, and less interest in sex

What is Menopause?

Menopause is the final menstrual period, defined by 12 months without menses due to the loss of follicular activity.

It is a natural life passage for women. Changes in menstrual flow, hormone levels and ovarian antral follicle count occur as part of reproductive and ovarian ageing.

Stages of Menopause

Menopause transition involves three stages:

The time period from the onset of menstrual irregularities to the end of the first year after your final menses
Final menstrual period
Your last menstrual cycle
The time period following menopause

Our solutions for #40andbeyond

  • Pelvic Floor: Strengthening of the pelvic floor to reduce vaginal dryness, improve intimate satisfaction and prevent incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse
  • Menopot: Tightening and toning of the abdominal muscles
  • Skin Laxity: Improve loose skin and boost collagen in common areas such as the tummy, thighs and butt
  • Vaginal Rejuvenation: Deep tissue improvement through the initiation of new collagen formation
  • Floorwork: Exercises to work on the core muscles for healthy ageing

Pelvic Floor:
Why it is important to have a
healthy pelvic floor

A healthy and well-toned pelvic floor is important in the prevention of issues such as incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and vaginal dryness.

Performing kegel exercises are often recommended but it is often not easy to train these muscles. The Orchard Clinic method employs advanced treatment technology to strengthen the pelvic floor fast and effectively.

Menopause Belly:
What Is a Meno-Pot and
What Can You Do About It?

As women get older, metabolism decreases as estrogen levels fall around menopause, leading to what has been called a menopause belly or meno-pot. It just seems gets harder to shed stubborn belly fat.

Managing the menopot will help to improve your body image and reduce abdominal fat for better health.

Skin Laxity: It’s not just skin deep

Loose skin occurs with the loss of collagen, and is a natural part of ageing. Skin laxity of looseness occurs when the skin loses its firmness and structure and starts to sag.

Besides the face, skin laxity commonly occurs around the tummy, thighs, butt and vaginal area as well. This is often accompanied with loose and weakened muscles.

Our treatment employs advanced treatment technology to tighten skin, remodel collagen and improve skin quality and connective tissues.

Vaginal Laxity, Incontinence & Pelvic Organ Prolapse

The vaginal area undergoes a lot of changes during the perimenopause and menopause stage. As the pelvic floor muscles weaken, the skin and tissues also stretch.

Vaginal laxity is where the vaginal area is loose and is caused by saggy skin and weak muscles. This also increases the risk of a pelvic organ prolapse.

Treatment at Orchard Clinic employs Vaginal Rejuvenation to tighten the vaginal canal and remodel collagen around the area.

How can I avoid menopause symptoms?

Menopause is a natural process that cannot be avoided. However, treatments typically focus on relieving the signs and symptoms of menopause (e.g. mood swings, hot flashes, vaginal dryness), and preventing or managing chronic conditions that occur during the process (e.g. incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse).

How does treatment work?

At Orchard Clinic, we focus on naturally strengthening the body’s muscles and tissues using advanced treatment technology. Our method does not include any medication or hormone therapy and is completely safe, unless there are pre-existing contraindications which will be assessed during the first visit.

When is a good time to start treatment?

In preparation for the transition, we recommend women to start treatments in their perimenopause stage (which is generally when they are in their 40s). Women in the later stages may seek treatments once symptoms are interfering with their quality of life.

Is there something we can do before menopause?

We recommend preparing for menopause by building muscle mass and strengthening skin and tissues. This helps to strengthen the body to prepare for the bodily changes. On an individual level, women can introduce certain lifestyle changes. These include eating well and exercising (particularly pelvic floor and core strengthening), and ensuring sufficient calcium intake.

At Orchard Clinic, we may recommend a combination of Floorwork, Pelvic floor therapy and Tissue treatments to manage symptoms fast and effectively.

How much is treatment?

For price enquiries, please refer to our Fees & Prices page.

What can I expect during my first visit?

Your first visit will involve a thorough assessment of your symptom profile and pelvic floor condition. If suitable for treatment, you will receive a customised treatment plan from our trained consultant.

How effective is treatment?

Depending on the condition, treatment can help to better manage or stop incontinence, and result in a tighter and firmer pelvic floor and core.

How soon can I see results?

In general, we observe improvements by the fourth to sixth treatment. However, treatment effectiveness will vary across individuals and involve factors such as age, severity of symptoms and lifestyle.
