Leading Postpartum
Assessment Centre

Orchard Clinic provides comprehensive postpartum assessments for mothers after pregnancy and childbirth. We assess and treat common conditions, such as incontinence (weakness of bladder), diastasis recti (postpartum belly), and vaginal laxity.

What to expect during your assessment

Pregnancy and childbirth takes a huge toll on a woman’s body, leading to issues such as postpartum belly due to diastasis recti, or weakness of the bladder due to pelvic floor conditions. A postpartum assessment is recommended for early intervention and to avoid further worsening of the condition.

At Orchard Clinic, our postpartum assessments are conducted by trained female consultants who are specialised in understanding postpartum body issues. We recommend a comprehensive 3-point assessment that covers both external and internal examination of your body as follows:

Diastasis Recti AssessmentPhysical assessment at the linea alba to assess for abdominal separation
Pelvic Floor & IncontinenceInternal examination to assess for pelvic floor strength & resistance
Vulva & Vaginal Laxity AssessmentVisual examination for skin laxity in the vulva area

A comprehensive 3-point assessment for common post pregnancy body conditions

Our comprehensive 3-point assessment covers some of the most common conditions that affect mothers during their postpartum period. Our trained consultants provide accurate diagnosis of every individual conditions, helping to facilitate the process of treatment and recovery as soon as possible.

Diastasis Recti Abdominis (DRA)

Diastasis Recti Abdominis (DRA)

DRA is a very common condition, with approximately 80% of mothers experiencing the divarication of the rectus abdominis muscle. Commonly referred to as the ‘Mummy Tummy’, DRA is accompanied with saggy or loose skin and an inability to lose the mummy tummy despite weight loss.

Orchard Clinic offers fast and effective diastasis recti treatment in Singapore, without any surgery, medication or injections. Early prevention is crucial to avoid further complications such as pelvic floor dysfunction, lower back pain, postural issues and hernia.

Pelvic Floor & Incontinence

Childbirth, pregnancy and menopause increase the likelihood of mothers experiencing pelvic floor conditions and stress urinary incontinence. Some signs of pelvic floor dysfunction include an involuntary loss of bladder control, a weakness of the bladder, and/or urinary leakage during a physical activity such as coughing, sneezing or exercising.

Seeking timely treatment at Orchard Clinic helps to avoid further worsening of the condition, prevent pelvic organ prolapse, removes the reliance on hygienic pads and helps to achieve a more confident lifestyle.

Vulva & Vaginal Laxity (VRS)

Vulva & Vaginal Laxity (VRS)

As women age, relaxing of the vaginal wall can lead to Vulva & Vaginal Laxity or vaginal relaxation syndrome (VRS). Some factors that aggravate VRS include childbirth, particularly with multiple pregnancies and deliveries; as well as hormonal changes due to hormonal changes that cause vaginal atrophy.

Orchard Clinic’s treatments facilitate tightening of the vulva and vagina canal; strengthens tissue to promote the optimal structure of the vaginal canal and improves intimate health.

Am I suitable for assessment?

Assessment can be done on any female. If you have recently given birth, we would advise waiting at least 2 months after childbirth before coming for an assessment.

If you have given birth for a number of years, assessment can still be done.

Can I do the assessment when I am breastfeeding / menstruating / pregnant?

Assessment can be done while breastfeeding. But not during pregnancy.

We would recommend doing an assessment before/after your menstrual cycle. If you are menstruating and would like to do an assessment, you may proceed with the Diastasis Recti assessment first.

Who will be doing the assessment for me?

Assessment will be done by a female consultant, specialised in identifying postpartum conditions, especially Diastasis Recti and pelvic floor issues.

How much is the initial assessment?

The initial assessment will be $150 before GST, which includes the full 3-point check for Diastasis Recti, Incontinence/Pelvic Floor issues and Vaginal Laxity.

Do I need to prepare for the assessment?

Not really, we would however advise that you come in comfortable clothing for ease of the assessment.

Can I start treatment on the same day?

Treatment may or may not be possible, depending on the severity of the condition and if there are any contraindications. This will be advised after the initial assessment.
