Menopause
Manage symptoms without medication to age gracefully

What is Menopause?
Menopause is the final menstrual period, defined by 12 months without menses due to the loss of follicular activity.
It is a natural life passage for women.
Changes in menstrual flow, hormone levels and ovarian antral follicle count occur as part of reproductive and ovarian ageing.
Stages of Menopause
Menopause transition involves three stages:
Perimenopause, Final menstrual period, and Postmenopause.
- Perimenopause – The time period from the onset of menstrual irregularities to the end of the first year after the final menses.
- Final menstrual period – The last menstrual cycle.
- Postmenopause – The time period following menopause.

FAQ
How can I avoid menopause symptoms?
Menopause is a natural process that cannot be avoided. However, treatments typically focus on relieving the signs and symptoms of menopause (e.g. mood swings, hot flashes, vaginal dryness), and preventing or managing chronic conditions that occur during the process (e.g. incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse).
How does treatment work?
At Orchard Clinic, we focus on naturally strengthening the body’s muscles and tissues using advanced treatment technology. Our method does not include any medication or hormone therapy and is completely safe, unless there are pre-existing contraindications which will be assessed during the first visit.
When is a good time to start treatment?
In preparation for the transition, we recommend women to start treatments in their perimenopause stage (which is generally when they are in their 40s). Women in the later stages may seek treatments once symptoms are interfering with their quality of life.
Is there something we can do before menopause?
We recommend preparing for menopause by building muscle mass and strengthening skin and tissues. This helps to strengthen the body to prepare for the bodily changes. On an individual level, women can introduce certain lifestyle changes. These include eating well and exercising (particularly pelvic floor and core strengthening), and ensuring sufficient calcium intake.
At Orchard Clinic, we may recommend a combination of Floorwork, Pelvic floor therapy and Tissue treatments to manage symptoms fast and effectively.

What can I expect during my first visit?
Your first visit will involve a thorough assessment of your symptom profile and pelvic floor condition. If suitable for treatment, you will receive a customised treatment plan from our trained consultant.
How effective is treatment?
Depending on the condition, treatment can help to better manage or stop incontinence, and result in a tighter and firmer pelvic floor and core.
How soon can I see results?
In general, we observe improvements by the fourth to sixth treatment. However, treatment effectiveness will vary across individuals and involve factors such as age, severity of symptoms and lifestyle.
