Cellulite & Stretch Marks

Cellulite occurs when the skin and connective tissues beneath become rippled and uneven, much alike to the skin of an orange. It is a very common skin condition among women due to hormonal changes and the natural body fat distribution. Common areas for cellulite include the thighs, hips, buttocks, breasts, upper arms and abdomen.

How is Cellulite formed?

Cellulite Formation in Skin

Skin, fat cells and connective tissue are vertically arranged. When the skin overlying certain areas of fat is pulled downward to the deeper tissues by connective tissue bands, allowing the protrusion of fat cells into the skin, it gives the appearance of cellulite in the form of wrinkles and lumping. The visibility can become more pronounced with hormonal changes and age as the skin thins and loses elasticity with decreased collagen production.

What causes Cellulite?

Cellulite can be caused by the following factors:

  • Poor diet (eg. Caffeine, alcohol, and foods high in salt, fat and carbohydrates)
  • Age
  • Pregnancy
  • Genetics
  • Hormonal factors
  • Weight gain

Cellulite Treatment

Cellulite is a deep skin condition and requires breaking up of underlying connective tissue bands. Topical treatments such as creams and massages tend to only superficially and indirectly reduce cellulite appearance, yielding little return for the input time and effort.

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave Therapy is highly efficient in shaping and renewing the human body. Energetic acoustic waves penetrate the underlying connective tissue and cells for rejuvenation, collagen production and breaking down of enlarged fat cells. This results in improved elasticity and smoother appearance of the skin as well as a more contoured body.

Stretch Marks

When our skin is pulled too tightly, especially during times such as pregnancy or significant weight changes, the supporting layers of tissue beneath it experience tiny tears. These become visible streaks on our skin in red, brown, yellow or purplish hues. Most women experience stretch marks in areas such as the belly and thighs during and after pregnancy. As a type of scarring that seldom fully fades, stretch marks are especially difficult to remove naturally and are best treated in their early stages (ie. Less than a few months old).

Rejuvenation of deep connective tissues is required to improve skin elasticity and treat the appearance of stretch marks.

Shockwave Therapy firms, smoothens and tightens bodily appearance through positive influence of underlying tissues and cells. By delivering energetic acoustic waves beneath the skin, it effectively stimulates and strengthens the collagen network to enhance skin elasticity and renewal. This inspires faster fading of fresh stretch marks and cellulite to refine skin texture and bodily contours.
