Osteopathy |

|
The osteopathic approach to healthcare emphasizes the role of the musculoskeletal and nervous system in health and disease; and the ability of one's own body, through proper nutrition and conditioning, to heal itself.
The philosophy is to treat the whole person, not just the symptoms. It emphasizes the interrelationships of structure and function. Different parts of the body function together in an integrated manner. If one part of the body is restricted, other parts of the body will try to adapt and compensate for the change. However this eventually leads to inflammation, pain, stiffness and possibly other health problems.
Common conditions treated by osteopaths
Osteopaths are commonly sought and especially effective in treatment of a wide variety of health conditions including low back pain, neck pain, headaches/migraines, hip, knee and foot pain, sports injuries, sciatica, arthritis, poor posture and scoliosis.
Treatment
Using a variety of techniques, an osteopath will treat structural abnormalities, relieve joint restrictions and misalignments. Osteopathy is one of the safest treatments around and is most often pain-less.
Osteopaths at Orchard clinic are trained to use many different procedures to treat injuries including spinal manipulation, advanced shockwave therapy, electrotherapy, ultrasound, and traction. Our practitioners can also prescribe custom-made orthotics and advice on nutrition and supplements, diet, exercise, posture, lifting technique and stress management.
